SIX WEEK WORKSHOP

6 Projects – 4 Techniques

No previous knowledge of glass fusing is required. Annemarie’s instructions are easy to follow and the results are stunning.
Material, tools, fusing and slumping is included.
You need to bring your own Xacto knive for class 3, and a ….. face mask for class 4.
Skill level is from beginner to intermediate. Each class is 3 to 4 hrs long
Since we are still dealing with COVID please sign up with your bubble up to 4 people. You can choose which day of the week works best for your group
Classes start at 9am

WEEK 1

CORRAL CANDEL HOLDER
In this beginner class we learn how to score and break glass. It is a good exercise for all levels and we can never practice too much.

Week 2

CREATE A PLATE
In our second class, we expand our cutting skills. We will design an 8”x8” plate. Please bring your idea to the class.

Week 3

KILN CARVING
Please bring your own Xacto knife.
Kiln carving is an old favorite technique. We use refractory fiber paper to create our design and the kiln heat embosses the glass. Like in the previous class bring your own sketch and bring your own Xacto knife, which is available at STAPLES or CREATIVE ZONE. We use clear glass for this project and make another 8”x8” plate.

 

Week 4

SGRAFFITO
Sgraffito is a form of decoration made by scratching or removing the black glass powder to create your design. For this class, we need face masks 3M 8210 (N95 Approved) or if you have a particulate respirator to protect us from inhaling the glass powder.

Week 5

WINDOW ORNAMENT / SUN CATCHER

In class three we will create a window ornament or sun catcher. Now you can use the previously created ornamental elements (from class 1) for your design.
So far we experienced some different techniques how to work the glass. This time the firing schedule is different. Instead of a full fuse we fire a bit cooler so the glass just tacks to each other.

Week 6

FREE FORM

This is your class to shine. You can choose your favorite technique to create an item of your liking.
Think about it and come to class with a sketch or an idea. You have a choice between a full fuse or a tack fuse. Preferably we can agree on which fuse to use for our final project.
